Differential diagnosis

• Orbital fat prolapse
• Granuloma

Possible management by Optometrist

Treatment

• Topical lubricants for symptomatic relief
• If the lashes present on the lesion and cause discomfort consider referral to Ophthalmology department for electrolysis

Advice

• Surgical treatment is generally avoided due to possibility of complications such as scarring, ptosis, sight threatening dry eye, and ocular motility problems

Management Category

• Routine referral to ophthalmology if electrolysis required or diagnosis is in doubt

Possible management by Ophthalmologist

• Electrolysis of the lashes
