Fuchs' Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy
Differential diagnosis
- Pseudophakic or aphakic bullous keratopathy
- Posterior Polymorphous Dystrophy
- Cornea guttata
- Corneal hydrops
- Contact lens over wear
Possible management by Optometrist
Treatment
- For persistent oedema consider Sodium chloride 5% in the morning and as necessary during the day
- Therapeutic contact lens for pain
Advice
- Warm air blown on the eyes with a hair dryer in the mornings may help
- Cataract surgery may precipitate corneal oedema
