Macular Oedema, Post-Operative
Differential diagnosis
- Diabetic macular oedema
- Retinal vein occlusion
- Neovascular age-related macular degeneration
Possible management by Optometrist
- If patient symptomatic
- POM Nepafenac 1mg per ml three times a day for six weeks
- or POM Ketorolac 0.3% three times a day for six weeks
Treatment
- None
Advice
- Usually spontaneously resolves
- Only refer if symptomatic
Management Category
- Urgent referral
Possible management by Ophthalmologist
- Topical steroid
- Topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug
