Optic Nerve
Visual Field Defect, Unilateral, Isolated
Differential diagnosis
- Poor patient performance at automated perimetry
- Ptosis
- Functional visual loss
- Photoreceptor disorder
Possible management by Optometrist
Treatment
- None
Advice
- In the absence of glaucomatous disc changes, abnormal colour vision or a relative afferent pupillary defect, then poor patient performance of automated perimetry most likely explanation, even if false negative and positive rates low
- Repeat automated perimetry with direct supervision, and lid taping as necessary, to see if improves with practice
- Referral to ophthalmology if progressive or symptomatic
