Vitreous haemorrhage, Previous Pan-Retinal Laser

Differential diagnosis

  • Haemorrhagic posterior vitreous detachment

Treatment

  • None

Advice

  • Advise the majority of vitreous haemorrhages, in this setting, are secondary to vitreous detachment and will spontaneously resolve
  • Advise of risk of retinal detachment and how to recognise

Management Category

  • Discuss with ophthalmology whether urgent assessment required, if previous pan-retinal laser thought to be incomplete
  • Routine referral to ophthalmology diabetes clinic

  • Observation
  • Ultrasound
  • Vitrectomy
